Winners of $1.2 million Trust Challenge To Be Revealed March 10

AUSTIN, TX – The winners of the 5th Digital Media and Learning Competition, the “Trust Challenge,” will be announced March 10. They will split a total of $1.2 million to pursue projects aimed at fostering trust in online learning environments.

WHO:

The awards, supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and administered by HASTAC (Humanities, Arts, Science and Technology Alliance and Collaboratory), will be announced by Richard Culatta, acting director of the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology.

A total of 13 winners are being selected from 30 finalists who proposed developing digital projects and tools designed to build privacy, security and safety into digital offerings, and to build awareness around data and trust.

WHY:

“Our competition seeks to advance solutions that build the trusted environments learners need online so they can safely and confidently access the rich learning opportunities the Internet affords,” said David Theo Goldberg, HASTAC co-founder and director of the University of California Humanities Research Institute.
