Connected Courses Webinars Feature Internet, Web Literacy

Web makers and university educators will discuss the World Wide Web and online literacy in two upcoming webinars that are part of the free online course, “Connected Courses.” The live webinars will take place Oct. 13 and 17.

The course is being taught by open-learning pioneers who developed the curriculum for fellow college and university professors to learn to teach their own open courses. It launched in September and runs through Dec. 14.

    • Laura Hilliger, training and curriculum lead at Mozilla Foundation

    • Howard Rheingold, digital media expert and educator

Why:

The webinars will explore the history and future of the open web and its importance in teaching and learning, said Campbell and Jaxon, the events’ hosts. Campbell and Jaxon are teaching with Hilliger, Rheingold and Chris Mattia, director of academic technology at Cal State Channel Islands, Unit 3 — “The World Wide Web From Concept to Platform to Culture” — of the six-unit Connected Courses class.
