Connected Learning Research Network Survey Competition Winners Announced

Youth organizations selected to come together, both in person and online, to reimagine the possibilities for education in the information age

The Digital Media and Learning Research Hub, in collaboration with the University of Colorado Boulder and SRI International, is excited to announce the winners of the Connected Learning Research Network (CLRN) survey competition.

The CLRN Survey Study is a two-year research study on connected learning. The network is conducting this study to develop a deeper understanding of how interest-driven, peer-supported, and production-centered learning environments that leverage digital and networked media can promote meaningful learning outcomes. To recruit survey participants, the DML Hub distributed a call for proposals to recruit organizations that may embody these connected learning principles.

A panel of judges, comprising academics and practitioners, selected winners from the pool of entrants who best represent these principles and provide equitable learning opportunities for youth from nondominant communities. Programs range from online empowerment networks to afterschool sites that focus on technology skills or academic achievement to neighborhood youth development initiatives and student-centered public schools. This study offers a unique opportunity for participating organizations to better understand how their youth, ages 13 to 16, experience learning both within the programs and across their lives.
